“We started in 2009 to help kids to go to school. With fundings that we received we were able to pay the school fees for 25 children. Now, in 2011 we also would like to continue with our project and provide school fees for at least 40 kids.
In the beginning we were shocked that so many children had to drop out of school or weren’t able to go to school at an early age only because their parents or family members couldn’t pay school fees of 30 or 70 EUR per year. It continued with the school transport and the empty stomaches of our little fellas cause problems as they were sitting hungry at school unable to follow the teacher.
In 2009 we had 3 people (incl. me) working on this project.
Underprivileged children will benefit from this project 100%. We already received 40 applications for this school year from children by the age of 7 – 17 years. Donations that come in will be used to pay the outstanding schoolfees directly to the schools. Furthermore, we continue to set up study groups during the holidays and activities for the kids. In April 2010 we visited the Cape Town Aquarium and we hope that we can organise more outings soon.
It is also planned to provide one meal per day and if things run well we can even help with the transport fees to school.Our biggest challenge is to collect enough donations to be able to provide for our children.
Incoming donations will help us to continue with our project for 2010 Currently, everything is on standby because of missing funding.”
