Muizenberg is situated about 25km south of Cape Town – by car in 20 minutes to reach by train and you drive about 45 minutes from Cape Town to Simon’s Town railway station for less than 2 €.
The symbol of Muizenberg are the colourful wooden houses “Edwardian Beach Houses”, which can be found all along the 32 km long beach and Muizenberg is known as the best place for unexperienced surfers.
So Muizenberg is the best place to learn to surf since directly in Muizenberg you can find a surf shop where you can get everything a surfer’s heart desires. There you can rent wetsuits and surfboards or buy swimwear by the known brands like Billabong and Roxy.
You won´t have a problem to change and to take a shower on site after your surf experience, as there is a large dressing room with showers in the store. You can also relax in the shop to drink and eat something.
For beginners, it is advisable to rent wetsuits and boards. You can get both in total for two hours, which are quite sufficient for 100 Rand, so around 10 €.
