Daddy Bloom Flower Show

Celebrated on the Cape Town’s Grand Daddy Hotel, the exhibition runs from the 10th – 14th November 2010 from noon till 8pm. Daddy Bloom is a creative competition and exhibition, which invites artists to create garden installations from non-floral and non-plant materials; inspiring some original design work from the City’s best.

Curator, Janet Stent received proposals of an exceptionally high standard. After a tough selection process, eighteen proposals have been chosen for the showcase event. Among the talented creatives participating this year is recycling visionary, Heath Nash, freelance illustrator and printmaker, Jesse Breytenbach and designer/conceptualist, Greg Gilowey.

Daddy Bloom will also play host to origami flower folding sessions for anyone interested in taking a lesson or two, and dewaalart.com will provide a graphic vinyl tree for a public participation installation. As sponsor of the event, Beefeater London Dry Gin will be on hand with a menu of Beefeater Summer Edition Gin Cocktails to sip on while enjoying the artworks.

Visitors to Daddy Bloom will be asked to donate a R10 entry fee to (SEED) School’s Environmental Education and Development; an organisation that uses Permaculture gardening principles to teach young people how to create sustainable food gardens in under-resourced Cape Flats schools.

Over the four day festival, the entrants will be judged by a panel of creative personalities and the Daddy Bloom winner will receive R2000 and a luxury accommodation package for two.
