Football is indeed „in“ at the moment, but there are more alternatives spending the evening.
Here I want to list some options. If they are no other things coming to your mind, then you can always visit the cinema. In Waterfront are two cinemas, one normal popcorn-cinema with the updated movies and the other one for ambitious guests.
Sterkinekor and Numetro
Wednesday is cinema day for the half price, just 19 Rand.
Besides the cinematic experience you can also view different live-shows. For every taste there is something and that’s to incomprehensible prices to Europeans, between 30 – 100 Rand. The price is valid for all locations. You don’t have to argue with money scarce, if you hasn’t seen any of the many shows.
Artscape Theatre Complex (City Centre)
The repertoire includes everything: ballet, opera, dance shows, comedy, concert shows. The location is central in the city.
Baxter Theatre Complex (Rondebosch)
The Baxter Theatre is in the same class than the Artscape Theatre. It is offered everything that belongs to a large field of culture. I have already seen some shows there, I can it really recommend. The location is in the middle of campus in Rondebosch, so for people from Sea Point a few minutes drive away.
On Broadway (Long Street in City Centre)
Here you can get comedy, performances and music in a smaller but more comfortable setting. The situation can not be more central, because after your culture experience you can let off steam in the various bars and clubs.
Theatre on the Bay (Camps Bay)
Basically the same performances, but it’s located in the fashionable Camps Bay. Culture is here as well a pleasure and after that partying in one of the many bars.
Armchair Theatre (Observatory)
This small stage is located in a central location of Obs, directly in the student quarter. Everything is a bit rustic, but I can recommend it from a personal experience.
